Job Advertisement for a Professor of Medical Statistics and Bioinformatics (W2-Scale)
At the Institute for Medical Informatics, Statistics and Epidemiology (Director: Prof M Loeffler) of the Medical Faculty Leipzig we offer a position for a Professor of Medical Statistics and Bioinformatics (W2-Scale).
The applicant should have a profound methodological knowledge in applied statistics and should have practical experience in the fields of medical statistics and bioinformatics. He should have an excellent scientific expertise in at least one of the following research fields:
- medical statistics (e.g. biometry of clinical trials)
- analysis of high dimensional molecular data (e.g. gene expression, proteomics)
- genetic statistics
- modelling of biological processes.
The applicant is expected to strengthen research in the Medical Faculty, in particular the methodology of linking molecular and genomic research with clinical trial research. Regarding analysis of molecular and genetic data and process modelling we expect a close cooperation with the Interdisiplinary Center for Bioinformatics (IZBI), and regarding clinical trials with the Clinical Trials Coordinating Center (KKSL) and the Interdisciplinary Center for Clinical Research (IZKF).
The applicant has teaching responsibilities in the Medical Faculty and in courses for medical informatics and bioinformatics jointly organized with the Faculty for Mathematics and Computer Science.
The contract will be for 6 years. A tenure position is envisaged thereafter provided an excellent record of publications and grant acquisitions can be demonstrated.
